About

The Art Bikers program - a mobile bicycle and trailer-based art program - was started by the 4Cs Foundation in 2007 to provide free artmaking opportunities in neighbourhoods and communities throughout HRM. Under the visionary leadership of artists Jesse Harrod and 4Cs Executive Director/Artist Terri Whetstone, the program was designed to provide arts programming at a community level that broke down barriers and was accessible to all. Additionally, the program provided well-paid summer jobs to young artists and University students training them in arts-based community development and community work at the same time.

Over its history, Art Bikers has become well-known and deeply appreciated by the communities it serves. More than 15,000 children, families and community members have taken part in art-making activities in their neighbourhoods and at special events and festivals.

In May of 2020, Art Bikers 14th Season, the Program was fully transferred to Wonder’neath Art Society. Wonder’neath has made a commitment to maintaining the legacy of this much-loved program and its delivery to the benefit of our communities.

Meet the SEASON 17 Team

We are thrilled to announce Art Bikers Season 17!

Meet this summer's Art Bikers: Noah, Daisy and Tas, who have been in training for the past few weeks at Wonder'neath! This crew will be working alongside folks from Pop Up Bike Hub Mini (Ecology Action Centre's Community Bike Repair Hub on wheels) and can't wait to meet community members in their parks, community gardens and beloved gathering spaces!

Noah Jennings

Hi! My name is Noah, and I am super excited for my first season with the Art Bikers. I am originally from Ottawa, and I’m in my second year at NSCAD with a focus in painting.

My favourite place to bike in Halifax is the MacDonald Bridge for the awesome views of the Harbor.

I am most excited to make lots of bright and colourful art with the communities we’ll visit this summer.

Tas Pham

I'm Tas, I'm entering my 3rd year in Community Design and Sustainability at Dal.

Crafting is my hobby, and I'll give my best support to Noah and Daisy. I love to visit more communities in Halifax and it would be super cool to do that as an art biker 🎨 🚲 Besides biking, I also play rugby and slowly get into mountain climbing.

My favourite place to bike in Halifax is Horseshoe Park Island, but I can be changed when I bike to different communities :)

Daisy Graham

Hey, y'all! I'm Daisy, one of Wonder'neath's Art Bikers for the upcoming summer season.
I am a quilter, a weather enthusiast, a cat parent, and a recent BFA grad.

My favourite spot to bike to in Halifax is along the waterfront, and I'm most excited to bring my knowledge of textiles and alternative processes (natural dyeing, printmaking) to this summer's programming.
